Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in San Antonio, TX seeks a Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility, review test results, and support donor safety in the plasma collection process. You will work under the Center Manager for operations and under the Center Physician for medical issues, with CPR/AED and EMT certifications required, and a state license depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including nursing program equivalency and state requirements.
• Current EMT licensure (EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P) or LPN/LVN or RN as applicable in the state of practice.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Meet state requirements for basic IV therapy as applicable.
• Complete FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history, exam, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and Center Physician orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage occupational health incidents and coordinate with EHS for investigations.
