Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility, review test results, and support plasma center operations. You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, ensuring donor safety and adherence to regulations in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires clinical experience, valid EMS or nursing licensure, CPR/AED, IV therapy knowledge, and FDA-mandated BioLife training.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P, LPN/LVN, and RN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance, physical exam, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and physician standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for decisions on unacceptable findings or medical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation with EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist with investigations of pandemics in the local community.
