Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to oversee donor eligibility, safety, and compliance at our Portland plasma center. This role collaborates with Center Manager and Center Physician to ensure quality operations and patient-focused care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; nursing program diploma where required
• Current EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P licensure in the responsible state
• Current CPR and AED certification
• FDA training completion for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility incl. informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance criteria, physical exam, blood testing and SPE review
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage emergencies per SOPs; refer serious findings to Center Physician or Medical Affairs
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for staff
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with EHS for follow-up
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support related investigations
