Job summary

PHI Health is seeking a Communications Specialist to support air medical operations in Phoenix, AZ. You will assimilate requests for transport, coordinate with crews, and maintain radio communications across multiple channels while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes customer service, data entry accuracy, and collaboration with aviation, medical, and dispatch teams. A high school diploma is required; EMS or air medical communications experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• EMS and/or air medical communications experience preferred.
• Medical terminology preferred.
• Must be computer literate and able to use Word and Excel.
• Excellent customer service and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Must pass pre-placement drug screening and background check.
• This position is Safety Sensitive under Arizona law.

Responsibilities

• Assimilate information to make quality decisions and perform specialized communications tasks.
• Maintain effective communication with crew and aircraft using multi-channel radio systems and perform flight following.
• Document medical information for transports as a legal record and coordinate international/national medical transports.
• Input flight and ground transport data into the network database per FAA Part 135 and company policies.
• Coordinate with aviation, medical and dispatch teams and external agencies for transport details.
• Assist with front-end billing processes and follow-up on patient accounts as needed.
• Attend departmental staff meetings and continuing education sessions.
