Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support instructional activities for students with disabilities under a licensed Special Education teacher. The role includes one-on-one tutoring, basic personal care, and assisting in daily living skills as part of IEP objectives.

Responsibilities also include note-taking, behavior records, and assisting with field trips, with CPR training encouraged and training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of characteristics of students with various disabilities.
• Good knowledge of English grammar and spelling.
• Ability to work with students with disabilities ages birth to 21.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction and reinforce learning for students with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal care as needed.
• Assist teachers with classroom management and record-keeping.
