Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support teachers and students with disabilities in elementary and high schools. Under supervision, you will reinforce learning concepts, assist with personal cares and daily living skills, and help maintain student records and behavior notes.

The role requires a valid paraprofessional license or eligibility, CPR training is highly desirable, and candidates should be ready to collaborate with staff to create inclusive

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid TASN parity paraprofessional license or be eligible, with 60 college credits OR completion of paraprofessional exam (Work Keys or Parapro).
• Good knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and basic mathematics.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to complete basic written reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with various disabilities under supervision.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support as needed.
• Assist with daily living skills and use of assistive tools and equipment.
• Maintain written records of student behavior and assist with homework and class activities.
• Attend workshops and trainings to update job-related skills.
