Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support teachers in elementary and high schools. The role includes one-on-one tutoring, personal care support, and assistance with mobility devices and daily living skills.

Employees assist in documenting behavior, participating in workshops, and accompanying students on field trips. Certification as a paraprofessional is required or pursued during employment, with CPR training highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid TASN paraprofessional license or eligibility.
• Presents evidence of CPR training; CPR training may be required after hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education teachers in reinforcing learning for students with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene assistance as needed.
• Assist with mobility tools, equipment, and daily living skills.
• accompany students on field trips and assist during instruction.
• Maintain basic written reports and student behavior records.
