Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a special education teacher. Responsibilities include reinforcing learning, providing one-on-one tutoring, and assisting with daily living tasks and personal care as needed.

The role requires a paraprofessional license or 60 college hours with exam options (Work Keys/Parapro) and familiarity with IEP guidelines. CPR training is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• CPR training completed or training required as a condition of employment.
• Paraprofessional license from ISBE or license pending after 60 college hours.
• Knowledge of IEP processes and classroom support for diverse disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce instruction for students with various disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and support learning concepts.
• Assist with personal care and daily living skills when required.
• Move and position non-ambulatory students as trained.
• Record student behavior and maintain documentation.
• accompany students and teachers on field trips; attend trainings.
