Job summary

Soliant is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to support a middle school student with residual hearing. This contract placement begins early in the school day and aims to empower the student to participate fully in lessons and activities.

You will provide interpreting and transliteration, bridge communication among student, peers, and staff, and help foster an inclusive classroom environment while supporting the student’s participation in classroom lessons, activities, and discussions.

Qualifications

• Valid IL Professional Educator License (PEL) required.
• EIPA score of 3.4 or higher preferred.
• Experience interpreting in school settings preferred.
• Proficient in American Sign Language; strong communication with students.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting and transliteration services for a middle school student.
• Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff.
• Support participation in classroom lessons, activities, and discussions.
• Assist educators in fostering an inclusive learning environment.
• Adapt interpreting style to fit diverse educational settings and student needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
