Job summary

Soliant Health is seeking a full-time Sign Language Interpreter to support students in a Newberry-area school. You will provide real-time ASL interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, collaborating with teachers and support staff to ensure full participation in class activities.

The role emphasizes confidentiality, professionalism, and adaptability to diverse classroom settings, with a focus on supporting both academic and social development through accessible communication.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Experience interpreting in a school setting preferred.
• Ability to facilitate communication between students, staff, and teachers.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Appropriate state or national certification (EIPA or RID).

Responsibilities

• Provide interpretation services for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure student participation.
• Adapt interpretation methods to individual student needs.
• Assist with school activities and events requiring interpretation.
• Maintain accuracy, impartiality, and professional boundaries.
