Job summary

UnitedHealth Group’s Baptist HomeCare, part of the Optum family, is hiring a Physical Therapy Assistant for home care across Mississippi regions. You will follow the supervising PT's plan, assist patients with exercises, and coordinate with the care team in a dynamic home-health environment.

Applicants must hold licensure to assist in physical therapy, have a valid driver’s license, be able to work weekends, and maintain CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice
• Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation
• Available to work a weekend rotation
• Current CPR certification or ability to complete within 90 days of hire
• Ability to perform physical tasks required for patient care, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility

Responsibilities

• Follow state specific laws governing the provision of physical therapy in home care, follow the treatment plan defined by the supervising PT, and make recommendations for changes to the plan of care to the supervising PT
• Instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training
• Observes, records, and reports to the supervising PT, nurse supervisor, and/or physician the patient's response to treatment and changes in condition; coordinates care with the health care team
• Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and others in the therapy scope of the PTA
• Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client
