Goodwill-of-Greater-Washington- is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to advise managers and staff on policy interpretation and performance management in the DC metro area.

The role conducts internal investigations, supports morale and retention initiatives, documents processes, and trains staff in conflict resolution and discipline. Frequent travel to DC, MD, and VA is expected as part of the job.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Two years’ HR experience in employee relations or dispute mediation.
• Knowledge of federal/state employment laws and updates.
• Ability to analyze HR data for key indicators.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong customer service skills across staff levels.
• Multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility to adjust to changing business conditions.
• Requires own transportation for frequent off-site travel.

Responsabilités

• Provide HR guidance and recommendations to managers and staff for policy interpretation and performance management.
• Conduct investigations of internal complaints and employee grievances.
• Recommend practices to improve employee relations and morale.
• Ensure proper documentation and advise on progressive discipline steps.
• Train staff on disciplinary actions, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
• Evaluate metrics and advise on turnover and retention improvements.
• Assist with referrals to third-party resources for anger management and support.
• Conduct retention and exit interviews and analyze findings.
• Propose policy updates in response to changing regulations.
• Prepare and present required reports.
• Represent the department on internal/external committees and special projects.
• Respond to government/legal inquiries and assist with filings.
