Job summary

McKinstry in Spokane, WA is seeking an Employee Relations and Compliance Manager to guide complex employee relations matters and ensure the organization complies with applicable employment laws and regulations.

You will investigate harassment, discrimination, and misconduct, develop a standardized performance management framework, advise on ADA accommodations, and coordinate I-9/immigration and background check processes.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, and misconduct.
• Strong understanding of performance management practices and progressive discipline.
• Experience with ADA interactive process and accommodations.
• Familiarity with EEO-1 reporting and background check adjudication (FCRA).
• Knowledge of I-9, immigration processes and related compliance requirements.
• Ability to respond to government inquiries and wage/hour concerns.
• Ability to interpret policies and advise managers clearly.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complex employee relations issues, document findings, and guide corrective actions.
• Develop and implement a standardized performance management framework with templates.
• Advise on ADA accommodations and coordinate the interactive process with managers and counsel.
• Oversee employment law compliance functions including EEO-1 reporting and I-9 management.
• Maintain and audit personnel files, records retention, and policy guidance for HR partners.
• Provide clear policy interpretation and partner with legal to address regulatory changes.
