Job summary

Hope Network / Harbor House in Michigan is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for part-time 2nd and 3rd shift to help individuals build independence and participate in the community. You’ll assist with daily living activities, mobility, communication, and health management with a compassionate approach.

You will monitor safety, support crisis prevention, attend medical appointments, and help with social and leisure activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to become CPR/First Aid certified.
• Shift availability including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety 24/7 and perform checks.
• Support crisis prevention, intervention, and resolution.
• Establish collaborative relationships built on trust and empathy through consistent and meaningful communication.
• Foster a spirit of partnership with individuals served, the community, and other professionals.
• Help build effective skills for problem-solving, communication, and independence.
• Assist person served to participate in social and leisure activities and daily living tasks.
• Monitor vitals and relay medical information accurately.
• Connect individuals with opportunities or places in their community.
