VEG is seeking a Veterinary Nursing Shift Lead to coordinate on-the-floor care, patient status, and team performance in a fast-paced emergency setting. You will guide shifts, ensure smooth operations, and coach VEGgies to deliver top-tier care.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year in veterinary tech roles, CVT/RVT/LVMT credentials, and strong communication skills. This on-site role offers growth, leadership learning, and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician or enrolled in VEG Credentialing program.
• 1+ years in veterinary technician/assistant role; emergency or specialty preferred.
• Strong grasp of clinical workflow and team dynamics.
• Leadership and ownership mindset with growth orientation.
• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Keep patient status, team bandwidth, and shift needs under close watch.
• Manage daily workflow and adapt as emergencies arise.
• Assign and adapt shift roles with clarity and care.
• Step in on floor when needed and support the team.
• Coordinate breaks, resolve conflicts, and model calm under pressure.
• Lead shift transitions, huddles, and end-of-day wrap-ups.
• Communicate clearly and escalate key issues as needed.
• Turn downtime into learning opportunities and growth moments.
• Flag incidents with transparency and a growth mindset.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership on coverage and ongoing coaching.
