VEG ER for Pets in Paramus, NJ seeks an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support the team from day one, assisting with triage, treatments, and patient care across exam and treatment areas. You’ll work with licensed technicians and veterinarians, gaining hands-on experience in a high-energy ER.

You will learn CPR, participate in rounds, and have access to growth opportunities and mentorship within a rapidly expanding ER network.

Qualifications

• Must have empathy and strong people skills.
• Excellent communication with pet parents and team.
• Strong sense of ownership over tasks and outcomes.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn and grow in ER care.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and a steady support, triaging incoming patients and guiding them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork and imaging.
• Work alongside credentialed technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.
• Set up and manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
• Assist during every moment of care, whether outpatient or inpatient.
• Join patient rounds and stay close to the clinical picture to ensure continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and pursue RECOVER Certified Rescuer training (training provided).
• Grow into more advanced responsibilities through guided training pathways (e.g., anesthesia support, ultrasound, catheterization).
• As permitted by state law.
