Job summary

VEG ER for Pets is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our team in a fast-paced environment. You will assist during triage, treatments, anesthesia setup, and patient monitoring while supporting pet parents with care and compassion.

You'll grow through guided training pathways, with opportunities to learn anesthesia support and ultrasound as you advance. This role emphasizes teamwork, rapid learning, and a thriving ER culture with VEG values.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program enrollment is a plus.
• 1+ years in veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR/practice software familiarity.
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team.
• Ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 25 kg.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome, triage patients, and guide them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics including bloodwork and imaging.
• Work with credentialed technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia and sedation.
• Set up and monitor IV fluids, transfusions, and meds.
• Support care across outpatient and inpatient settings; participate in rounds.
