Job summary

VEG is seeking a part-time Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced team in New York. You will support triage, patient care, and client communication while learning from credentialed technicians and veterinarians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ years in veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and understanding of practice management software and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and provide triage support for incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work with credentialed technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia and sedation.
• Manage IV fluids, transfusions, and medication administration.
• Support care in outpatient or inpatient settings, from exam room to treatment area.
• Join patient rounds to monitor the clinical picture and continuity of care.
