Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in Chicago is hiring an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line emergency team. You will participate in triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing, delivering gold-standard, emotionally intelligent care for pets and their families.

This role requires AVMA-accredited VT training and state credentialing, with 1+ year of experience in emergency or specialty care.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in veterinary technology from AVMA-accredited program preferred.
• Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT) in the state of the VEG practice is required.
• 1+ year of experience as a veterinary technician; emergency or specialty experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line emergency nursing care and support to doctors.
• Perform triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing.
• Give IVs, CRIs, blood transfusions, and other emergency interventions.
• Communicate effectively with team and families during high-stress events.
• Demonstrate CPR and emergency procedures as part of the team.
• Assist with diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and airway management.
• Support anesthesia for fragile patients and utilize advanced techniques when needed.
• Utilize central lines, endoscopy, ultrasound, and other tools in care.
