Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is hiring Veterinary nursing Shift Leads to oversee each shift, ensuring top-tier care and smooth operations. You will manage workflow, coach the team, and maintain a patient-centered environment in our fast-paced emergency hospitals.

The role requires a credentialed veterinary technician or enrollment in VEG's credentialing program, 1+ year of veterinary experience, and strong leadership and communication skills. Night/weekend shifts are included.

Qualifications

• CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT certification or enrollment in VEG Credentialing Support Program required/preferred.
• 1+ years of experience as a veterinary technician or assistant; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Strong grasp of clinical workflow and team dynamics.
• Ability to guide others with empathy while overseeing floor operations.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Keep a clear pulse on patient status, team bandwidth, and shift-wide needs.
• Manage daily workflow and pivot the team during unexpected events.
• Ensure shift roles are assigned and adapted with clarity and care.
• Step in on the floor to assist—no task is too small.
• Coordinate breaks, resolve conflicts, and model calm under pressure.
• Lead shift transitions, team huddles, and end-of-day wrap-ups.
• Communicate clearly; elevate key issues to leadership.
• Turn downtime into learning opportunities for the team.
