Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) seeks a Veterinary Nursing Shift Lead to keep shifts running smoothly, ensure top-tier patient care, and empower VEGgies on the floor. You’ll own shift rhythm, lead huddles, and coach the team with empathy while maintaining a big-picture view.

Ideal candidates are credentialed technicians with 1+ years in emergency settings, strong communication, and comfort with patients and equipment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in veterinary technician/assistant role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT) or enrolled in VEG Credentialing Program preferred.
• Strong grasp of clinical workflow and team dynamics.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Keep pulse on patient status, team bandwidth, and shift-wide needs.
• Manage daily workflow and pivot during unexpected events.
• Assign and adapt shift roles with clarity and care.
• Step in on the floor when needed; no task is too small.
• Coordinate breaks, resolve conflicts, model calm under pressure.
• Lead shift transitions, huddles, and end-of-day wrap-ups.
• Direct questions and elevate key issues to hospital leadership.
• Turn downtime into learning time and provide opportunities for growth.
• Flag notable events with transparency and growth mindset.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership on coverage and coaching.
