VEG is seeking a Veterinary Nursing Shift Lead to coordinate shift flow, ensure top-tier patient care, and support VEGgies on the floor. You’ll supervise rounds, breaks, and coaching, while maintaining a calm, safe, and collaborative ER atmosphere.

You will lead with empathy, ownership, and a strong service mindset, guiding team members through rapid-paced emergencies and complex cases in a 24/7/365 setting. This role is on-site and requires flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Credentialed veterinary technician or VEG credentialing program enrollment.
• 1+ year experience as veterinary technician/assistant; emergency experience preferred.
• Strong grasp of clinical workflow and team dynamics.
• Ability to guide others with empathy while managing floor operations.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Flexible and willing to step in wherever needed.
• Leadership instincts and ownership mindset.
• Experience with practice management software and EMR.

Responsabilités

• Keep pulse on patient status, team bandwidth, and shift-wide needs.
• Manage daily workflow and pivot during unexpected events.
• Ensure shift roles are clear and adapt as needed.
• Step in on the floor when help is needed.
• Coordinate breaks, resolve conflicts, and model calm under pressure.
• Lead shift transitions, huddles, and end-of-day wrap-ups.
• Communicate clearly and elevate key issues as needed.
• Turn downtime into learning time and promote growth.

• Collaborate with hospital leadership on coverage and coaching.
