Job summary

Alamance County Government is seeking a Paramedic to provide high-level emergency medical care on a 24-hour shift, responding to a variety of illnesses and injuries. The role involves basic and advanced life support, patient stabilization, documentation, and coordination with hospital staff.

Responsibilities include equipment readiness, safe transport, and adherence to NC EMS protocols. Compliance with continuing education and state licensure is required; valid NC driver’s license is necessary.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Paramedic training or equivalent experience preferred.
• Possession of a valid NC driver’s license is required.
• Certification by the State of North Carolina as a Paramedic; continuing education required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency calls for medical illnesses, traumatic injuries, vehicle crashes, fires, and disasters.
• Assists, stabilizes, and treats patients per protocols; monitors patient condition until hospital handoff.
• Operates ambulance and maintains readiness of units and equipment; ensures cleanliness and disinfection.
• Documents patient data and treatments; communicates with dispatch and receiving facilities.
• Attends continuing education sessions to maintain clinical knowledge and certification.
