Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• NC Advanced EMT certification or equivalent.
• Experience in emergency medical services and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency calls for medical illnesses, traumatic injuries, vehicle crashes, fires, and disasters.
• Stabilizes and treats patients and monitors condition until transfer to hospital staff.
• Operates EMS vehicle and determines most efficient route to scene.
• Documents patient data, medications, allergies, and treatment responses.
• Initiates life support and airway management and administers medications as protocols allow.
• Transports patients safely using stretchers and ambulance equipment.
• Maintains ambulance readiness, equipment, and inventory; ensures unit cleanliness.
• Maintains communication with dispatch and receiving facilities throughout transport.
• Completes patient care reports for data collection and billing requirements.
• Attends continuing education and training to maintain certification.
