Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; some experience as a Paramedic or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certification by the State of North Carolina as a Paramedic; valid NC driver's license.
• Mandatory continuing education as provided by the department.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency calls for medical illnesses, traumatic injuries, vehicle crashes, fires, and disasters.
• Stabilizes and treats patients using basic/advanced life support and protocols.
• Operates ambulance, oversees equipment readiness, and documents care data for reporting and billing.
• Initiates treatment, administers medications, and secures IV/IO access as needed.
• Transports patients to hospital facilities and maintains communication with dispatch and hospital staff.
• Performs routine vehicle inspections, maintains equipment, and ensures biohazard waste disposal compliance.
