Job summary

Methodist Health System in Dallas is seeking a Police Dispatcher to answer call requests, prioritize and dispatch emergency responders for Methodist campuses and nearby agencies. You will relay information via radio, monitor traffic, and coordinate mutual aid as needed.

You will operate the CAD system, maintain status, and document updates, while collaborating with public safety personnel, agencies, and the community. This role requires maintaining confidentiality and works in a 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass all pre-employment screenings to include a drug screen.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, relay details accurately both verbally and in writing.
• A valid Texas Driver’s License may be required or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
• Must pass FBI criminal background fingerprint check and comply with security standards.

Responsibilities

• Answers emergency and non-emergency call requests for service for police, fire, and emergency medical assistance; prioritizes and dispatches responders and resources.
• Relays pertinent information to public safety personnel via radio; monitors traffic and provides immediate information.
• Uses the CAD system to maintain status for public safety personnel, documents updates, and notifies management on critical incidents.
• Coordinates with agencies, citizens, and businesses to gather information or dispatch assistance.
• Performs data searches in local, state, and national databases and inputs information into TCIC/NCIC as requested.
• Completes confirmations for agencies and processes paperwork for timely notification.
• Supports health system culture by assisting coworkers with guidance and training.
• Maintains confidentiality and professional behavior; upholds rules and public trust.
• Maintains punctual attendance and the ability to work 24/7 shifts, including weekends and holidays.
