Qualifications

• High School graduate with 6 months dispatcher experience in EMS or a related field.
• Tech-savvy with CAD knowledge and advanced data entry skills; knowledge of emergency procedures.
• EMT training and certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives incoming calls from customers; prioritizes, dispatches and follows up to completion.
• Evaluates all potential problems from calls or CAD monitoring systems.
• Provides clerical support to EMS administration; schedules meetings, reports and tracks incident reports.
• Maintains situational awareness and notifies EMS administration of evolving community situations.
• Contributes to continuous performance improvement activities.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Answers all incoming calls and routes them promptly as appropriate.
• Maintains two-way radio communication with field staff; operates CAD equipment.
• Books and documents emergent and non-emergent requests for service.
• Relays requests for service to appropriate resources.
• Tracks and deploys transportation resources with CAD; maintains communications center equipment.
• May participate in orientation of new employees.
• Recommends changes and provides feedback to supervisory staff for smooth operation.
• Maintains communications center in neat condition.
• Maintains required paperwork for ambulance and wheelchair calls.
• Contacts facilities for next-day trip verification (pickup/dropoff, wheelchair, bariatric, etc.).
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
