Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Emergency Department Paramedic to join our team. The shift is 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

with an every-third-weekend rotation, providing patient care under the supervision of the RN and physician within a defined scope of practice. Responsibilities include data collection, assisting with patient needs, and performing treatments such as vital signs, ECG, oxygen delivery, wound care, IV maintenance, and phlebotomy.

Qualifications

• Current EMT P license without restrictions or EMT-B with at least 1 year of related experience (military, private ambulance, fire department or healthcare setting).
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• CERT Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Collect pertinent data within certification scope and report findings to RN/physician.
• Assist patients with basic care needs and other duties per nursing policies.
• Prioritize patient care activities based on needs and unit activity.
• Administer treatments and procedures as ordered by physician and directed by nursing staff.
• Perform vital signs, ECG, oxygen therapy, wound care, IV maintenance and phlebotomy as needed.
