Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks an Emergency Department Technician to join its ED team in Illinois. This role supports patient care under the guidance of an RN and physician, performing monitoring, data collection, and various treatments within scope.

Required credentials include a current EMT license and a high school diploma, with CERT BLS; ACLS/PALS preferred. Hours are 11a–11p with every third weekend rotation, with Northwestern Medicine benefits and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Current EMT P license without restrictions or EMT B with at least one (1) year relative experience in a similar capacity; including, but not limited to: Military experience, private ambulance company, fire department or healthcare setting
• High School graduate or equivalent
• CERT Basic Life Support

Responsibilities

• The Paramedic functions under the direction of the Emergency Nurse (RN) and Physician, collecting pertinent data and reporting findings to the RN/Physician.
• Assists patients with basic care needs and follows nursing policies and procedures.
• Prioritizes patient care activities under the supervision of the Clinical Shift Coordinator or Relief Charge Nurse.
• Administers treatments and procedures within scope of practice as ordered by physician and directed by nursing staff.
• Performs vital signs, ECGs, oxygen administration, wound care, sterile technique, and IV management as needed.
