Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks an Emergency Department Technician to support Registered Nurses and physicians in a high-volume ED. You will assist with patient care, obtain vital signs, perform phlebotomy, ECGs, and help with procedures under supervision.

Work emphasizes teamwork, safety, and adherence to standards. This full-time role is 72 hours per pay period, mid-shift 11:00 a.m.–11:30 p.m., with alternating weekends/holidays, at Palos Heights, IL.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association preferred.
• Previous patient care experience is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provides wound care
• Assists with splinting and orthopedic devices
• Performs ECGs
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection
• Labels and processes specimens
• Maintains competency in bedside waived testing
• Prepares patient and room for MD/RN assessment
• Obtains and monitors vital signs
• Transports and retrieves patients, specimens, equipment
• Documents care in medical records
• Performs CPR and morgue care
• Cleans and maintains a safe, organized work environment
