Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks an Emergency Department Technician IHR for rotating shifts in our in-house registry. This part-time role (1.2 hrs/wk, 0.03 FTE) offers exposure to ED workflows and patient care under supervision from RNs and physicians.

The position emphasizes safety, rapid assessment, and collaboration within a busy department. Qualifications include a high school diploma, current Illinois EMT-P or EMT-B licensure with at least one year of related experience, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Current EMT-P licensure in the State of Illinois or EMT-B licensure in the State of Illinois with at least one year of relative experience.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Responsibilities

• The Paramedic functions under the direction of the Emergency Nurse (RN) and Physician. Assists patients with basic care needs and reports clinical findings to the RN and Physicians. Prioritizes patient care activities based on patient needs and unit activity.
• Administers treatments and various procedures within the scope of practice as ordered by the physician and directed by the Professional Nursing Staff, including vital signs, oxygen administration, IV management, wound care, and more.
