Job summary

UAB Medicine is expanding its Emergency Department and seeking qualified RN candidates. The role involves direct patient care in a high-volume Level I trauma center environment, with emphasis on critical thinking, health promotion and collaborative care.

Strong nursing experience and active Alabama RN licensure are required, with BLS and possible ACLS/PALS prerequisites. Shifts include full-time and part-time AM/PM and weekends; pay ranges from $30.00 to $48.00 per hour, with competitive

Qualifications

• 3 years or more of nursing experience preferred.
• 2+ years of experience preferred in psychiatric nursing, psychiatric emergency nursing, or correctional nursing.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• If job is in a free-standing emergency department (FSED) location, one (1) year of emergency or ICU nursing experience is required.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to care for and counsel individuals in health promotion and illness prevention.
• Use systematic critical-thinking to guide data gathering, assessment, nursing judgment, interventions and evaluation.
• Identify patient needs using the AACN Synergy Model.
• Delegate, coordinate and manage all aspects of nursing care with the health care team and physicians.
