Job summary

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator II for the Emergency Department. The role involves coordinating daily ED functions, ensuring patient identification, scheduling, and financial clearance, and acting as the primary information source for revenue cycle activities.

You will lead staff, resolve registration and billing issues, and train team members while adhering to HIPAA, EMTALA, and AHN policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or one – three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3-5 years of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment
• Medical terminology, third party health care coverage experience, and strong understanding of managed care regulations
• Experience with various computer software programs

Responsibilities

• Coordinates activities and workflow in the emergency department per the job profile (30%)
• Monitors staff performance and productivity and provides feedback to management (20%)
• Supports leadership in achieving organizational goals and acts as a resource to staff, patients, and customers (20%)
• Identifies and resolves registration, scheduling, insurance verification, coding, and billing issues within timeframes (20%)
• Trains staff and ensures competency and compliance with policies and regulatory requirements (10%)
• Other duties as assigned or requested.
