Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Patient Financial Access Specialist-ED to manage patient registration across the Emergency Departments. You will collect demographics, verify insurance, and obtain financial documentation to support timely billing while delivering respectful, patient-centered service.

The role requires 2–3 years in a customer service setting, preferably in a medical office, and a high school diploma or GED (associate degree preferred).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• 2–3 years in a customer service environment, preferably in a medical office or hospital setting with focus on registration and/or scheduling, insurance verification, and financial clearance.

Responsibilities

• Interviewing/Demographic Information: Obtain and accurately record patient demographics in the EMR for clinical and billing use.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and completes insurance entry to satisfy billing requirements.
• Collects co-payments/deductibles and obtains signatures for applicable financial documents.
• ED Registration Functions: Manage the ED Track Board and prioritize patient flow; handle various registration work queues; support downtime and incident planning.
• Admitting Functions/Aditional: Escort patients to treatment areas and manage visitor passes; support coordination with departments and teams.
