Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Patient Financial Access Specialist-ED to support registration in the Emergency Department and Admitting areas. You will verify insurance, collect co-pays, and ensure timely processing of visits, while maintaining patient safety and privacy.

Strong communication and multitasking are essential. Responsibilities include ED track board management, admissions coordination, and collaboration with trauma, stroke, and other protocol teams to ensure a smooth patient

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• 2–3 years of customer service experience in a medical office or hospital setting preferred.
• Experience with insurance verification and financial clearance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients in ED and admitting areas with accurate demographics.
• Verify insurance eligibility and collect co-pays/deductibles at point of service.
• Manage ED Track Board to prioritize patient flow and registrations.
• Escort patients to treatment areas and coordinate admissions as needed.
• Maintain visitor passes and support downtime/incidents planning per preparedness guidelines.
• Provide excellent customer service and alignment with professional behavior standards.
