Job summary

University of California, Irvine Health is seeking an Emergency Department Registration professional. You will perform pre-admission tasks, financial counseling, insurance notification, verification and authorization to support timely patient flow.

Ideal candidates have hospital/medical office experience, strong English communication, and solid knowledge of Government and CommercialInsurance Plans, plus familiarity with major registration systems like Quest, Invision and EPIC.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Extensive knowledge of Government and Commercial Insurance Plans.
• Experience with registration and/or billing computer software programs.
• Experience in a hospital or medical office setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Managed Care plans.
• Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process.
• Ability to utilize payer websites to access and interpret health plan benefits.

Responsibilities

• Handle pre-admission, financial counseling, insurance notification, verification and authorization.
• Manage unscheduled admissions in acute care or mental health admissions.
• NICU transfers and other duties as assigned.
