Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a dedicated ED Registration professional to perform admission pre-processing, financial counseling, insurance verification and authorization tasks.

The role requires experience with hospital billing processes, strong English communication, and knowledge of managed care plans. A patient-centered approach and ability to work across departments are essential to support timely hospital operations.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of Government and Commercial Insurance Plans.
• Experience with registration and/or billings computer software programs.
• Experience in a hospital or medical office setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Managed Care plans.
• Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize payer and government websites to access and interpret health plan benefit packages and make determinations.
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Perform essential ED registration functions including pre-admission, financial counseling, insurance verification, and authorization.
• Manage unscheduled admissions in acute care or mental health settings as assigned.
• Coordinate with multiple departments to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate billing.
