Job summary

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, NJ seeks an ED Business Associate to manage patient admissions and registration in the Emergency Department, verify insurance, collect documents, and enter data in the EMR.

You will coordinate with patients, physicians, and care teams, apply HIPAA/compliance rules, and support admission and discharge processes while maintaining patient privacy.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in customer service or related field.
• Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, billing practices and coding.
• Proficient computer skills and MS Office.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bi-lingual a plus (Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of patients presenting to the Emergency Department and enters required patient information into the EMR per EMTALA/HIPAA.
• Ensures patients are aware of hospital policies and are added to the ED Tracking Board in a timely manner.
• Obtain demographic and financial information and create emergency financial assistance applications when applicable.
• Input information into EMR, collect IDs and insurance cards for record-keeping.
• Verify health insurance benefits and requirements via eligibility systems or calls.
