Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare in Carbondale is seeking an Operator II to manage switchboard duties, screen and relay incoming calls, and process STAT code notifications while monitoring alarm panels across the facility.

You will assist with training new staff, maintain daily call logs and schedules across departments (Facilities, OR, PACU, Radiology, MRI, Laboratory, dialysis, and more), and support on‑call pathways. SIH emphasizes employee development and an inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer, screen, and relay calls.
• Process all notification of STAT code requests.
• Monitor alarm systems including 911 calls, emergency management radio system, fire alarm panels, emergency generator and medical gases panels, paging system, panic alarms, and infant security alarms.
• Process all requests for first responder notifications.
• Completes and maintains daily call logs.
• Operator II – assist with training of new staff as requested.
• Maintains call schedules including Facilities Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Surgery - OR, PACU, Perfusion, First Assist – CVOR, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray, IR, RN IR Techs, Nuclear Medicine, Anesthesia, CRNA, Spiritual, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, Physical Therapy, Sterile Processing, Dialysis, Physician schedules (PS).
