Job summary

NENA is seeking a Communications Specialist (EMT Dispatcher) to answer emergency medical and fire calls, dispatch resources, and guide callers with critical instructions until responders arrive on scene.

The role requires the ability to multi-task in high-stress situations, completion of or enrollment in EMT training, and preferred BLS/CPR certification. Full-time benefits, relocation assistance, and a training academy are provided.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail in fast-paced environments.
• Willingness to pass CritiCall and EMT entrance exams if not previously completed.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency medical and fire calls for service.
• Dispatch ambulances and fire resources to locations requesting help.
• Provide callers with patient-care instructions and safety guidance until responders arrive.
• Communicate safety concerns to determine needed precautions or equipment.
