Job summary

NENA is seeking a Communications Specialist (EMT Dispatcher) to answer emergency medical and fire calls, dispatch resources, and guide callers with critical instructions until responders arrive on scene.

The role requires the ability to multi-task in high-stress situations, completion of or enrollment in EMT training, and preferred BLS/CPR certification. Full-time benefits, relocation assistance, and a training academy are provided.

• Willingness to pass CritiCall and EMT entrance exams if not previously completed.

Opportunity

As a Communications Specialist (EMT Dispatcher) you answer emergency medical and fire calls for service and dispatch ambulances and fire resources to locations requesting help. As a call taker you process emergency medical and fire related calls using established protocols. You give callers instructions to begin patient care and how to safeguard themselves until help arrives on scene. The dispatcher position is responsible for sending the closest appropriate response resource to the scene. The dispatcher also communicates safety concerns involving patients and responders to determine whether or not additional precautions or equipment should be taken.

We offer a full training academy to develop the skills and competence to successfully process calls and dispatch resources. Prior medical or fire experience is preferred. All Communications Specialists must have completed or will need to complete an EMT course (REMSA Health has an onsite education facility where the EMT course would be completed). This is a full-time position that is eligible for benefits. We also offer relocation assistance!

• Ability to pass CritiCall Exam
