Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer to join the ACE Electromagnetics team in California. You will lead EMI/EMC test planning, execution, and verification for aerospace-grade electrical systems, implementing MIL-STD-461G tailored to our platforms.

Responsibilities include developing test plans, executing full MIL-STD-461 suites, maintaining equipment, and delivering rigorous reports with data plots and margins.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline.
  • 3 years of hands-on EMC/EMI testing and verification across MIL-STD-461 CE, CS, RE, and RS methods.
  • In-depth knowledge of MIL-STD-461G, DO-160G, MIL-B-5087, NASA-STD-4003, CISPR standards.
  • Proficiency with EMI test automation software, data acquisition, spectral post-processing, and limit-line analysis.
  • Strong troubleshooting, collaboration, and technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as responsible engineer for EMI/EMC test and verification, ensuring MIL-STD-461G compliance.
  • Design, develop, and refine Test Plans and Test Procedures for EMI/EMC tests on avionics components and systems.
  • Perform the full MIL-STD-461 test suite (CE101, CE102, CS101, CS114, CS115, CS116, RE101, RE102, RS101, RS103).
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain EMI test equipment including EMI receivers, signal generators, LISNs, and probes.
  • Produce high-quality test reports with spectral data plots, margins, and pass/fail dispositions.
  • Troubleshoot EMI/EMC test failures and propose corrective actions such as filtering, shielding, and layout changes.
  • Contribute to EMI/EMC, lightning, ESD, and RF requirements definition and deliver technical presentations.
