Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer to join the Engineering Center of Excellence Electromagnetics team. You will lead EMI/EMC testing and verification for aerospace systems, ensuring compliance with MIL-STD-461G and DO-160G.

This role involves designing test plans, operating advanced EMI test equipment, and delivering rigorous reports while collaborating across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a responsible engineer for electrical system EMI/EMC test and verification, ensuring rigorous compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and internal guidelines, with particular emphasis on MIL-STD-461G applicability and tailoring for aerospace platforms
  • Design, develop, and refine detailed Test Plans and Test Procedures for executing EMI/EMC tests on a wide array of avionics components and systems
  • Perform the complete MIL-STD-461 test suite including: CE101, CE102, CS101, CS114, CS115, CS116, RE101, RE102, RS101, RS103
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain EMI test equipment including EMI receivers, signal generators, LISNs, calibrated antennas, near-field probes
  • Apply shielded room characterization, ground plane bonding techniques, and cable harness dressing per MIL-STD-461 setup requirements
  • Produce high-quality test reports with spectra, margins, photos, calibration traceability, anomaly dispositions, and pass/fail determinations
  • Troubleshoot EMI/EMC test failures and propose corrective actions such as filters, shielding, and layout modifications
  • Contribute to EMI/EMC, lightning, ESD, and RF requirements for vehicles and systems
  • Deliver technical presentations on EMC solutions to review boards
  • Conduct risk reduction testing for EMI/EMC per industry standards
  • Support extended hours, weekend shifts, and on-call rotations during critical campaigns
  • Must be a U.S. citizen/national or lawful entry into the U.S. for employment
