Job summary

AV is seeking Embedded Software Engineering Interns for a 12-week, onsite Summer Internship Program in the United States. You will work with AV engineers on embedded software for unmanned aerial and robotic systems, gaining hands‑on experience on microcontrollers, processors, and flight‑system hardware.

The role emphasizes prototyping, integration, testing, and validation while applying industry best practices in embedded software development. Relocation/housing stipends may be available.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Basic knowledge of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with C, C++, or Python.
• Understanding of memory management, interrupts, or device drivers.
• Exposure to I2C, SPI, UART, or CAN.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in writing and testing embedded software for autopilots, sensors, and onboard components.
• Develop in C/C++ for real‑time and bare‑metal systems on microcontrollers.
• Support integration of software with hardware and debugging with lab tools.
• Collaborate with electrical, systems, and mechanical engineers.
• Participate in peer reviews, documentation, and configuration management.
• Contribute to lab and field testing of embedded systems for real‑world scenarios.
• Aid in prototype development and proofs‑of‑concept demonstrations.
