Job summary

Magellan Health is seeking an embedded Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC) to provide non-medical, short-term counseling to service members and their families at a dedicated military unit. The role requires an independent license, US citizenship, and ability to travel on military installations.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in a mental health related field.
Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a state.
Minimum two years of post-licensure clinical experience.
Proficiency with technology (MS Office, internet, videoconferencing).
Ability to engage with military members and families and respond to emergencies.
US citizenship proof and fluent English required.

Responsibilities

Provide non-medical, short-term walk-around counseling to service members and families.
Deliver training and health and wellness presentations as requested.
Enter counselor activity data daily and maintain confidentiality.
Develop professional relationships with unit leadership and POC.
Respond to critical incidents and fulfill surge requests as directed.
Navigate DoD protocols for duty to warn and restricted reporting.
