Job summary

Magellan Health seeks a Military and Family Life Counselor - Embedded Adult to provide non-medical, short-term counseling to service members and families at assigned military units. The role involves confidential assessment, brief counseling, and referrals, along with training and health and wellness presentations as requested.

The incumbent will collaborate with Regional Supervisors, maintain data records, and adapt to unit needs, including service in various locations and potential travel.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a mental health field from an accredited program.
• License to practice independently in a state/territory that authorizes independent counseling.
• Minimum two years of post-licensure clinical experience.
• Intermediate tech skills: MS Office, Internet, mobile apps, video conferencing.
• US Citizenship and fluent English required.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-medical, short-term, walk-around counseling to service members and families at embedded locations.
• Enter counselor activity data daily via smartphone or web app and maintain confidentiality.
• Develop relationships with unit commanders and POC to tailor MFLC services to unit needs.
• Respond to critical incidents, surges, and special requests as directed by the POC and DoD policy.
