Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks an Eligibility Advisor I to interview clients, collect financial data, and determine eligibility for SNAP, TANF, Medicaid and related programs. Training will be provided, with opportunities for career advancement within AES.

Role requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle high workload, and use MS Office tools. Telework is eligible; incumbents may be assigned to Houston and other locations within the region.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• One year of customer service experience with public contact is required.
• 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours may substitute for one year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants and recipients in person or by phone to determine financial eligibility for public assistance programs.
• Evaluate data from various sources and enter information into the eligibility system.
• Compute and authorize benefits based on eligibility determinations.
• Process work in accordance with state and federal regulations and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
