Job summary

Schindler Elevator Corporation (U.S.) is seeking a Field Superintendent - New Installation in Houston, TX. You will lead and mentor a 12–20 person field team, manage schedules, safety, and cost controls, and collaborate with sales, project management, and unions to ensure on-time, high-quality elevator installations.

The role emphasizes safety, site leadership, logistics, and effective communication with cross-functional teams, including contractors and service groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent in relevant work experience in elevator/construction
• 5+ years of technical leadership or elevator industry experience preferred
• Strong problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills; manage sensitive employee relations
• Proficiency in MS Office suite
• Strong organizational skills and experience managing tradespeople
• Flexibility to be on call
• Adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Lead and build a high-performing, safe team of 12–20 field technicians by enforcing quality and safety standards
• Coordinate daily project schedules, job site walkthroughs, parts/material ordering, and payroll accuracy
• Monitor installation progress and drive efficiency through site visits and communication
• Manage manpower levels with union representatives and resolve staffing issues
• Support sales and project management with bid estimates, progress meetings, and issue resolution
• Ensure all installations meet contractual, company, and safety requirements
• Regularly inspect sites for quality workmanship and safety compliance
• Enforce safety best practices and participate in ongoing training
• Train and mentor technicians on processes, tools, safety protocols, and industry standards
• Foster open communication and teamwork among field staff and unions
• Manage daily logistics and resource allocation to optimize delivery
• Serve as liaison between field teams, contractors, sales, PMs, and support functions
• Coordinate with unions to maintain positive labor relations
• Coordinate with quality, engineering, and service during handovers and training
• Proactively identify and resolve on-site challenges and customer concerns
