Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an energetic Special Education teacher for Exceptional Children. The role focuses on developing and implementing IEPs, delivering specially designed instruction, and monitoring student progress in a collaborative team setting.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree and NC licensure in Exceptional Children, plus ideally First Aid/CPR and CPI certifications. The position is on-site in Cary, NC, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
• Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in an Exceptional Children's teaching area (not including licenses in Academically or Intellectually Gifted).
• Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements.
• First Aid and CPR certifications (preferred).
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities; implements the IEP and updates based on diagnostic information.
• Implements instructional strategies and progress monitoring tools for specially designed instruction.
• Assists students in completing curriculum tasks and meeting IEP goals.
• Employs various teaching methods and adaptations to meet student needs.
• Monitors student behavior, maintains classroom discipline, and teaches behavioral strategies.
• Evaluates progress and coordinates grades and report cards.
• Attends IEP meetings as part of the collaboration team.
• Stays updated on trends and best practices via professional development and collaboration.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
