Job summary

The Police Athletic League, Inc. in New York City seeks COMPASS School Program Director to oversee elementary afterschool programming within a NYC public school or PAL Center.

You will supervise staff, coordinate with school partners and community agencies, and ensure SEL, mental health, and inclusion goals are met. Candidates bring 4+ years in youth supervision, strong communication, and willingness to travel across PAL locations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in child development, education, physical education or recreation, or related field with 2 years of youth experience.
• 4+ years of supervisory experience in youth services, including program management and staff supervision.
• Experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Must be cleared by DOHMH and PETS for School Aged Child Care programs.
• Willingness to learn mental health, SEL, and inclusion skills and apply them.

Responsibilities

• Foster social and emotional competencies and well-being in a safe, inclusive environment.
• Manage PAL Elementary School Afterschool Programming, including mental health support and inclusion coordination.
• Recruit, hire and supervise part-time staff and coordinators.
• Ensure compliance with PAL policies, SACC regulations, and funding obligations.
• Develop Youth Development culture with staff training and coaching on SEL and inclusion.
